If and when the students are finished with the photography lessons, they can work on making an entire town made from pasta. There are buildings, a train, flower pots, street signs and a variety of other things made of pasta. The students can then arrange the pasta town and take pictures of it.

Newspaper Layout/Design

Create a one-page newspaper layout in Microsoft Powerpoint using information from the Features Desk page in the website link to Writesite. Pick links from that page which will then take you to information about that title. Your page should include two photographs and three articles. Use headlines for the articles just like a newspaper would. You may use different fonts and font sizes for the articles. The photographs should enhance the articles, not distract from them. Do not leave any "dead" or "white" space on the page. This is the area left over where you didn't have an article or photo to fill it. You may use two cliparts. Be creative. You may also look at some "real" newspaper websites like the Los Angeles Time, or the New York Post. (45 pts)

Module 5

Module 6

Newspaper Reporters

Students will write articles for the school newspaper. To do this, they will need to periodically interview teachers and students, and fulfill other newspaper duties. You may have to do outside work as in taking your article home to edit it on paper or write a headline after Mrs. Wilcox has reviewed it. Please follow the directions to format the page correctly. If you are assigned an article, you must get it done as quickly as possible, then make the changes as soon as you get it back. If you found to be doing other things on the computer, you will be given a zero for your article. Getting the newspaper out is the main priority for this module. All work should pertain to that. (35 pts per article)
